Companion was released in the United States by Warner Bros. Pictures on January 31, 2025.

Premise

A weekend getaway turns bloody and violent when a subservient android that's built for human companionship goes haywire.

Production

In February 2023, it was reported that the film was in the works from New Line Cinema with a script from Drew Hancock, who was also directing, and with Zach Cregger, Raphael Margules, J. D. In May 2023, it was announced that Jack Quaid had joined the film's cast.<ref>Squires, John (May 25, 2023). Release

Companion is scheduled to be released by Warner Bros. Pictures on January 31, 2025. The film is also set be released in IMAX. The film was presented at multiple secret film screenings held across the United States on January 27, 2025.

Reception

Critical response

Rotten Tomatoes reports a 91% approval rating from 57 critics, with an average rating of 7.7/10. The Critic's Consensus reads, "A fiendishly clever contraption that doesn't rest on the laurels of its twists, Companion thrillingly puts the demented into domestic bliss." Metacritic, which uses a weighted average, reports a score of 75 out of 100, from 13 critics, indicating "generally favorable" reviews.
