I Know What You Did Last Summer is a 2025 American slasher film directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, who co-wrote the screenplay alongside Sam Lansky, based on a story by Leah McKendrick and Robinson. This film marks the fourth entry in the I Know What You Did Last Summer franchise and serves as a sequel to I Still Know What You Did Last Summer (1998).[a] The cast includes Madelyn Cline, Chase Sui Wonders, Jonah Hauer-King, Tyriq Withers, Sarah Pidgeon, Billy Campbell, Gabbriette Bechtel, and Austin Nichols, with Freddie Prinze Jr. and Jennifer Love Hewitt reprising their roles as Ray Bronson and Julie James from the earlier films. The storyline unfolds 27 years after the Tower Bay murders, as another hook-wielding killer emerges, targeting a group of friends one year after they concealed a car accident in which they were responsible for someone's death

Synopsis

On July 4th, Ava Brucks returns to her hometown of Southport, North Carolina, to attend the engagement party of her friend Danica Richards. Following the celebration, Ava, Danica, her ex-boyfriend Milo Griffin, and Danica's fiancé, Teddy Spencer, head out to watch the fireworks, extending an invitation to their former friend Stevie Ward, who has recently completed drug rehabilitation. While they are parked along a winding road on a cliff, Teddy inadvertently causes a car driven by Sam Cooper to veer off the edge. Despite Ava's insistence on contacting the authorities, Teddy insists on keeping the incident a secret and enlists the help of his father, Grant, a politician, to conceal the mishap.
