E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, commonly referred to as E.T., is a science fiction film from 1982, produced and directed by Steven Spielberg, with a screenplay by Melissa Mathison.
The narrative follows Elliott, a young boy who forms a friendship with an extraterrestrial being he names E.T., who has become stranded on Earth. Together with his friends and family, Elliott embarks on a quest to assist E.T. in returning home. The film features performances by Dee Wallace, Henry Thomas, Peter Coyote, Robert MacNaughton, and Drew Barrymore.
