Five Nights at Freddy's 2 is a 2025 American supernatural horror film inspired by the video game series Five Nights at Freddy's, which was created by Scott Cawthon, and serves as the sequel to the 2023 film adaptation. The film is directed by Emma Tammi and features a screenplay by Cawthon. Josh Hutcherson, Elizabeth Lail, Piper Rubio, Theodus Crane, and Matthew Lillard return to reprise their roles from the earlier film, while Freddy Carter, Skeet Ulrich, Wayne Knight, Mckenna Grace, and Teo Briones are new additions to the cast. Taking place one year after the events of the previous film, the story centers on Abby Schmidt (Rubio) as she rekindles her relationship with her animatronic companions, which leads to revelations about the origins of Freddy Fazbear's Pizza<ref name=":0">Works Cited

Plot

In 1982, at the main site of Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, Charlotte Emily observes William Afton, the establishment's creator and a serial killer, enticing a young boy into the backroom with a yellow rabbit costume. When the adults disregard her cries for help, she ventures inside and witnesses William attempting to kill the boy. As she carries the boy back to the main stage, William stabs her. She succumbs to her injuries and falls into a trapdoor, from which a puppet-like animatronic known as the Marionette emerges, holding Charlotte's lifeless body. The establishment is closed down, yet the event is concealed, and several franchise locations are launched shortly thereafter<ref name=":0" />.
