''The Gathering'' has been released in two separate versions; the original TV movie and an edited version in 1998 which deleted some scenes, added others, and retroactively added several lines to highlight several important future plot points, and an altered musical score to match the later thematic music used in the TV series. In addition, Londo Mollari's opening narration was redubbed to reflect certain casting changes as it implied that Sinclair was the first and last commander of the Bablyon 5 station when there was at least two after him.  This 1998 edited re-release was played following the ''[[Babylon 5: In the Beginning (1998)|Babylon 5: In the Beginning]]'' film to stir up interest for the fifth and final season of the TV series.
