==Production== In November 2022, The New York Times reported that Universal Pictures was satisfied with M3GAN's box office results and had intentions for a sequel. In January 2023, Gerard Johnstone confirmed discussions regarding a sequel, with James Wan indicating that he had a concept for the direction of the sequels. A few weeks later, Universal announced a release date and confirmed that the title would be M3GAN 2.0. Akela Cooper was confirmed to return to write the script for the sequel, and Johnstone was also set to return as the director. Allison Williams and Violet McGraw will reprise their roles as Gemma and Cady, respectively. Amie Donald, Jenna Davis, Brian Jordan Alvarez, and Jen Van Epps will also return from the previous film, while Ivanna Sakhno, Timm Sharp, Aristotle Athari, and Jemaine Clement will join the main cast. Principal photography commenced in Auckland, New Zealand, on July 15, 2024, and concluded on September 21, lasting a total of 52 days. Chris Bacon composed the film's score. To prepare for the role of AMELIA, Sakhno collaborated with a dedicated stunt team. She also trained in various martial arts, including Krav Maga and Tai Chi, developing a unique combat style that would contrast with the less lethal Wing Chun and Aikido techniques employed by M3GAN. Release M3GAN 2.0 had its world premiere in New York on June 24, 2025, at the AMC Lincoln Square 13, and was released on June 27. The film was initially slated for release on January 17, 2025, and then on May 16, 2025. As part of a long-term agreement with Amazon Prime Video for Universal's live-action films, the film will first be available for streaming on Peacock for the initial four months of the pay-TV window, before transitioning to Prime Video for the subsequent ten months, and then returning to Peacock for the final four months<ref name=":0" />.
